About me

Hi! I'm Nicole, I'm somewhere north of 30 and, even though it usually stresses me out like nobody's business (because I'm mostly a coward who's afraid of e-ver-y-thing), I love to travel the world - armed with a whole lot of anxiety, a paperbag, a spreadsheet and a very, very detailed plan A, B, C, and D.

Mr. Murphy seems to be hiding in my suitcase quite frequently, though, which disproportionally often ends up with me having to rip up the spreadsheet and deal with unexpected weather, transport chaos, animals gone wild, violent illnesses, terrorist attacks (yes, even those) or situations so bizarre that you'd think I've made them up. Even TSA agents all around the world seem to have an unhealthy obsession with me (much to everyone else's amusement).

So while the stories I'm gonna be telling here might not always be what you expect from a blog such as this (tales of beautiful people in ah-maaa-zing first class locations, taking the perfect pictures and saving you from having to buy an old-fashioned travel guide ever again), you can usually count on me for..let's call it a more realistic travel experience - in economy class, with mediocre hotels, panic attacks, less than perfect photos of nature and a slightly overweight me, and...well, a lot of whining along the way when things aren't panning out the way I want them to.

This blog is mostly supposed to be a travel diary for my sabbatical; I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to continue using it once that trip is over, so let's see how it goes!

Hello Goodbye

Hello everyone (probably for the last time)! I'm alive (though that was a bit of a close call), I have finally, finally left Asia behind...
