...aaand I didn’t listen to the forecast, because it’s always been wrong so far. So while yesterday I could walk around without my jacket for half the day, this morning I woke up to freezing temperatures and some overnight snow. It wasn’t all that bad at first, just a few flurries, but dry streets, the trees had that romantic pre-Christmasy powdered sugar look and I thought “Not ideal, but hey, I can work with that.” I should have known even thinking it would jinx it.
I can tell you practically nothing about the drive up to Jasper, because half the time I couldn’t even SEE the big-ass mountains lining the street. Pretty much the whole day went from “really pretty photo opportunity” (usually when there wasn’t a parking lot in sight) to “OMG, I’m in the middle of a blizzard” (usually whenever I passed a lookout point) in five minute intervals. You got whiplash from how quick that weather changed. Apparently it’s the first snow of the season (of course it is)...aaaand it’s supposed to last until Monday. Which, coincidentally, is my last day here. So let’s see what the next few days will bring besides me freezing my butt off (honestly, I was wearing SIX layers today and was still cold).
Funny thing, by the way, you can walk around with your DSLR and nobody gives a crap. But the moment you walk around with a tripod, you’re da man. Or woman in my case. I can’t even begin to tell you how many pictures I’ve had to take of people the past couple of days because “I seem to know what I am doing” and how many people suddenly ask me about my “compositions”. People, honestly, just because I walk around with a big-ass tripod does NOT mean I have any idea what I’m doing. It basically just means I brought it with me, so I feel like I gotta use it so the 2kg extra luggage were justified.
By the way, I feel like the pictures (at least on Insta) might be slow-coming, because both Lightroom online and Photoshop Light simply do not wanna work like I want them to and if you’ve ever taken pictures with a DSLR you know they need to be edited. But I’ll try to get some done and posted in the next few days.
